Åsa Exhibits in Oslo

The Swedish-Finnish jewellery extravaganza "8+8" opens on the 19th November at The Finnish-Norwegian Cultural Institute in Oslo. Åsas work is well reprisented among the 16 prominent jewellery artists from Sweden and Finland. The exhibition is open until 19th December.

Åsa & David Show Work in Munich

The Schoonhoven Silver Award exhibition opens this week at Pinakothek Der Moderne in Munich. The exhibition is open from 25th September until 15th November and shows work from an international selection of 52 metal artists.

More than 100 selected artists from around the world have been asked to interpret the south-east Asian LINGAM and create a modern fertility symbol. The exhibiton "LINGAM" is open from 7th-12th September in Konstfacks Vita Havet

Community Bowl #2

During Birkastans Day yesterday MADE BY: had over 300 visitors, 129 of whom helped make our Community Bowl #2. In this project we create communities around a physical object that everyone is free to take part in making. The finished bowl will be on display in our showroom window from 9th September.

Community Bowl Finished

MADE BY: project #3 is now complete. The bowl is a liturgical metaphor for sharing. During Birkastans day over 200 people visited MADE BY: and 124 people took part the making of the silver bowl which is now on display in MADE BY:s window.

Åsa Returns To Minsk

"Sweden Extended" will be opening this week at The Belarus National Museum in Minsk. The exhibition takes a closer look at what is happening on the Swedish contemporary jewellery scene and is funded by the Swedish Institute. Åsa and Anna Livén have both curated and produced "Sweden Extended"

Agnieszka Showing In Eskilstuna

Opening 1st September this Love Jönsson curated exhibition "Det är inte som det var att gå längs stranden" includes several of Agnieszkas latest works. The exhibition can be seen at Eskilstuna Konstmuseum until 21st October. The English title is: "It's not like it was a walk on the beach"

Åsa and Kerstin do the Midnight Run

Åsa and Kerstin joined 18000 other highly trained athletes to run Stockholm's 26th "Midnattsloppet" which involves running around the city in the dark for 10km. Congratulations and well done.

As recipient of this years Sigvard och Marriannne Bernadottes Konstnärs Stipendium Åsa becomes the second at MADE BY: to be honoured in this way. (David 2004) The ceremony took place in the Spegelsal (Mirrored Hall) in Gustav III Pavilion in Haga Park followed by a champagne reception at the Eko Tempel.

This coming Saturday MADE BY: celebrates Konsthantverketsdag (Crafts Day) and will have extended opening hours to accommodate the crowds. Konsthanverketsdag is a national, annual event that sees open studios and special exhibitions throughout the land.

MADE BY: friends is a small scale artist in residence programme in our studio where invited guests are given space to develop new work which is then shown at the end of their stay. Five Centuries of Swedish Silver

Scandinavia House in New York presents a unique collection of Swedish silver from Röhsska Museum. Amongst the pieces on show is David's spectacular fruit dish. The exhibition runs from February 14-May 8. Starting in San Francisco, the show will continue to the National Museum of Canada and The Shanghai Museum in China.

Love Signs at Platina

Our first group work "MADE BY: Project No.1 - Give A Little Love" was shown last night at Platina. In accordance with tradition the vernissage was held on St. Valentines Day and the theme is of course love. 148 works from 138 artists are on show, each with their own "love" angle. Table lamp "Glasgow" was Awarded the ELLE Interior Design Award this week. The presentation ceremony was held at the Nordic Light Hotel where the party continued long into the night. "Glasgow " is produced and distributed by Bsweden.

Maze International Presents "Eclipse"

Maze International will present the latest addition to their product line at this weeks Stockholm Furniture Fair. David designed the table lamp "Eclipse" for the Swedish interior design company, which is now the second product to reach the market from this collaboration. Eclipse will be available in April.

"Fling" at The Stockholm Furniture Fair

Bsweden/Belysningsbolaget launched David's new lamp series Fling at the Stockholm Furniture Fair this week. Fling is available in 3 colours and 3 sizes from small to huge. Glasgow was also launched in red to celebrate receiving the Elle Deco Design Award

Visting Colleagues

An assembly of professors and student jewellery artists in Stockholm to take part in the Symposium "Flags" at Konstfack paid a visit to MADEBY: this week. Despite the winter weather and freezing conditions in the workshop it was great to meet over a glass or two with colleagues from all over Europe.

Earthquake Proof Candlestick Now Available

Probably the world's first earthquake proof candlestick is now being produced and distributed by Maze International. Designed by David and made from brushed aluminium and rubber, this candlestick stays firmly in its place when everything else is on the move.
